The Dad Download: Running on 3%… No Charger in Sight

Today?

Yeah… today tried me.

Emotionally? I’m drained.

Mentally? Buffering.

Spiritually? Asking the Lord, “You sure this is my battle?”

Energy level? Somewhere between “low battery” and “phone dies while you’re trying to send one last text.”

Nothing major even happened—just a bunch of small things teaming up like they had a group chat called “Let’s Test Walter Today.”

And as a dad, as a man, as somebody juggling dreams, responsibilities, and these kids who apparently have more energy than the sun… days like this hit harder than they should. Because we don’t get to clock out. We don’t get a commercial break. We just keep pushing, even when homeboy inside our brain is waving a white flag.

But here’s the part I’m proud of:

Even feeling down, I still showed up.

Not perfectly. Not gracefully. But I showed up and sometimes that’s the real win.

So if your day wasn’t great either, welcome to the club. We’ve got matching eye bags and the shared belief that tomorrow has to be better, because today took all it had.

For now?

I’m giving myself credit for surviving the day without quitting life or yelling “EVERYBODY JUST SIT DOWN!” more than twice.

Tomorrow’s a new download.

New strength.

New patience… hopefully.
